Victorian Anthony Brown has won the 2014 Mazda NSW Open after a two hole playoff at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club.

Victorian Anthony Brown has won the 2014 Mazda NSW Open after a two hole playoff at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club.

Starting the day three shots off the lead, Brown went quietly about his business to shoot 3-under 69 and tie New Zealand's Josh Geary at 14-under 274 at the end of regulation play.

After 15 holes Brown had caught overnight co-leaders Geary and James Nitties at 14-under the card however a bogey on the par-3 16th saw him drop out off the pace.

Heading to the 18th hole,now two shots off the lead, Brown made a clutch birdie to be in the clubhouse at 14-under the card.

He watched on as Nitties made bogey on16 and then Geary on 17, he briefly held the outright lead, but a birdie on 18 from Geary saw them headed to a playoff.

The 18th hole was played sudden death with both players making birdie on their first trip down the stretch.

The second time down 18, Brown made birdie to claim his first title on the PGA Tour of Australasia.

"It was a pretty tough week, it was stinking hot Friday then today with this wind I am just relieved to be done," said Brown.

"I came second in the Australian PGA Championship a few years ago, it's about time I stood up and had a win, it feels great."

NSW Open set for a close finish

We are down to the back nine on Sunday at the Mazda NSW Open and things are very tight at the top!

Nitties and Geary both opened their rounds with a birdie before we saw the first lead change happen on the second hole.

Nitties made a bogey to leave Geary at the top on his own. However he picked that shot back up on the very next hole.

Victorian Daniel Valente also joined the lead for a period of time. He was 3-under after four holes to join the leaders.

However as the wind picked up making the closing holes on the front nine very tough, Valente dropped two shots to be T3 Nathan Green.

A bit of golf fashion stat for you...

New Zealander Josh Geary has chosen to wear an "All Black" ensemble today it what we assume is a tribute to his national pride.

Fellow Kiwi's Ryan Fox and Gareth Paddison have also won on Tour this year and you guessed it...they were wearing all black!

Also coincidentally when Fox won the WA Open, the All Blacks had defeated the Wallabies the night before.

Last night the Kiwis got one over the Kangaroos so perhaps that is an omen for a Josh Geary victory today.
