It’s been a fantastic round for Victorian Matt Griffin, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 17th.

Finishing with a 4-under 68, he is now 5-under after three rounds to be outright second behind Tom Bond.

Only arriving in Queensland on Tuesday, Griffin travelled from Korea where he also plays.

Scratch that! Tom Bond didn't bogey the 8th so he maintains a one shot lead over Anthony Brown.

Saturday 30
th August 2014, 1.09pm

After almost holing out on the 7th (which has $50,000 up for a hole-in-one) and taking the outright lead, Tom Bond gave it up on the 8th. That is his first bogey of the day.

This brings him back tied for the lead with Anthony Brown at 6-under the card.

Matthew Griffin comes through the turn at 2-under the card which has moved him up to T3 on the leaderboard.

A few more birdies will help him close the three hole shot gap on the leaders.

Daniel McGraw had a great third round of 4-under.
This jumped him up the leaderboard from T30 to T9.

Saturday 30th August 2014, 12.19pm

Our lead group started to fade with Kade McBride and Jake Higginbottom 3-over and 2-over respectively to be T3 on 3-under.

Their playing partner Anthony Brown was also over par after his second round but replied with a birdie to remain leading at 6-under.

He has been joined by South Australian Tom Bond who is 2-under after five holes.

Travelling along nicely is New South Welshman Brett Drewitt. He is 4-udner after 12 holes and has jumped into the top-10 on the leaderboard.

There is currently 13 players within five shots of the lead so if someone can get on a hot run we could see some dramatic changes on the leaderboard.

Saturday 30
th August 2014, 10.16am

It is early in the second round but already players are starting to make their move up the leaderboard.

Brett Drewitt and Grant Thomas have both made two birdies in their opening three holes to be T21.

The next group due to tee off is Scott Laycock, Matt Griffin and defending champion Nick Cullen.
Keep your eye on this group to go low today.

Griffin and Cullen always enjoy playing together and tend to go well when they do.

Cast your mind back to the Australian Masters last year where they played all four rounds together to finish T5 and outright 4
th respectively.

Some statistics for you…

·         The par-4 18th hole has played the hardest this week

·         The par-5 13th holes has played the easiest this week

·         No player has scored more than one eagle this week

·         Josh Geary and Grant Thomas have recorded the most birdies this week with 11 each

·         Anthony Brown has scored the most consecutive birdies. Putting four on his card from holes  5-8 in the first round
